Internship Opportunities
RIC's Center for Health and Fitness and RIC's Sports Program
provides interns with a unique opportunity to gain experience in a highly
developed fitness center and in a progressive community based sports and
recreation program. In addition, interns will have an opportunity to spend
time with staff and therapists from the clinical departments at RIC. RIC
has been named the top ranked rehab hospital for nine years in a row by
U.S. News and World Report.
Interns from undergraduate and graduate programs are accepted
from a variety of majors, including: therapeutic recreation, community
recreation, exercise physiology, sports management, kinesiology, etc.
The internship program requires a minimum ten week placement. The intern
is expected to work 40 hours per week, including some nights and weekends.
Interns will be assigned a supervisor who best fits with
their major and goals for the internship. All Therapeutic Recreation majors
will be assigned to a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, so
they will be eligible to sit for the NCTRC exam.
RIC will provide the intern with office space, clerical
support and computer orientation as part of the internship placement.
All travel related expenses directly attributed to assignments will be
reimbursed. Allowance for parking will also be available for interns who
drive and park in the RIC parking lot. Housing is available on the Northwestern
Campus for a reasonable rate.
