Volunteer Opportunities


Volunteers play in an important role in the success of the RIC Center for Health and Fitness and the RIC Sports Program. There are several opportunities for volunteers to donate their time and abilities. Following are some examples of roles in which volunteers may contribute:

  • Educational Programs - Present a topic of interest to participants of the RIC Center for Health and Fitness. Topics may include art therapy, self defense, travel, yoga, etc.
  • Health and Fitness - Assist physically disabled participants with exercise needs. Also may teach or assist with seated aerobics classes.
  • Office Support - Provide general office support including: sticking labels, stuffing envelopes, stamping documents, etc.
  • Outdoor Programs - Assist program staff with outdoor activities including: canoeing, camping, kayaking, rock climbing, snow skiing and water skiing.
  • Sports Programs - Serve as an assistant coach and train athletes in any of the following sports: adaptive golf, powerlifting, quad rugby, swimming, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair softball, wheelchair tennis, etc.
  • Tournaments and Special Events - Keep score and/or run the time clock at wheelchair basketball, wheelchair softball and quad rugby tournaments. Keep time or measure at track and field meets or roadracing events. Fill a variety of roles at fundraising events including: John Dolan Golf Tournament and Rehab Challenge.
